Frequently Asked Questions For Stairlift Servicing
We’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions that have been mentioned to us in the past. Feel free to check them out below and if you prefer you can also give us a call by contacting us.
You can also book your repair online and we will call you back to arrange a suitable day and time to call out.
For servicing our prices can vary depending on type of stairlift and distance from our base, so please feel free to Contact Us for a quote or call 087 341 9711
As a bonus and cost effective measure for our customers, we can also offer one of the two following options on all servicing visits:
- If you require any parts during the service, for example safety switch, remote control etc – we will credit the first €35 worth of parts free of charge.
- If your stairlift batteries are in need of replacement then we will then provide new ones completely free as part of the service. (assuming they are the standard gel type batteries most brands use)
Generally it won’t take longer than 1 hour to fully service your stairlift.
Every time we carry out a stairlift service, we go through the following items:
- Checking of all nuts, bolts and screws that attach to shrouds, chassis and brackets that retain the stairlift rail.
- Full cycle load testing of the main stairlift batteries to ensure they are in proper working order with the option of getting replacements if needed.
- Inspection and testing of any wiring and switches on the stairlift, triggering of safety sensors to test operation where appropriate.
- Test and inspection of the main drive motor (pinion) and the teeth (racking) of the stairlift rail.
- Full top to bottom damage check to ensure there’s no dangers or potential future issues.
If we discover an issue during the service we will advise you of your options. One of the reasons to get a service is to also check to see if there’s any underlying or unnoticed issues that could deteriorate further. We will also credit the first €35 worth of parts required as part of our stairlift servicing promise.
We call out nationwide throughout Ireland.
A stairlift should generally be serviced every 12 months by a competent stairlift engineer. If you have a new stairlift we’d recommend you contact your existing installer as it may be required they service it as part of your guarantee.
However if the stairlift is used in a nursing home or a high use environment we’d recommend servicing your stairlift every 6 months.
As part of your annual stairlift service we will test the batteries to ensure they are in proper working order. Stairlift batteries generally last on average of 2-3 years and if they are in need of replacement then these will be provided free of charge included in the stairlift service price. This is assuming that your stairlift uses the standard common type batteries 90% of brands use.
