Stannah fault codes

Stannah Stairlift Fault Codes

Stannah stairlift showing a number or letter on its display? Here's what each code means and the likely fix.

11 codes listed

Stannah stairlifts show a small diagnostic code on the seat display when something needs attention. Most of the time it's a simple one — the seat needs turning back, an arm needs lowering, or the batteries want charging.

Find your code below. Anything pointing to the control board (ECU) or an unexplained fault is one for an engineer — we repair Stannah lifts across all 26 counties.

Stannah stairlift display codes

As shown on the seat display

Code What it means & what to do
Charge Volt Not Present
No charge voltage is being detected. Make sure the lift is parked on its charge point and the charger is switched on at the wall.
1
Battery Voltage Too Low
The batteries need charging; leave the lift on its charge point. If it keeps happening, the batteries are likely due for replacement.
2
Ready For Operation
Normal. The lift is charged and ready to use.
3
Safety Pad Obstructed
A safety edge or pad is being pressed. Check for anything caught on the footrest or around the carriage.
4
Chair-arm Rocker Switch or Key Switch Not Engaged
The arm rocker switch isn't pushed in, or the key is off. Push the switch in, or turn the key to on.
5
Downside Chair Arm Not Lowered / Seat Not Loaded
Lower the chair arm on the down side, and make sure someone is seated.
6
Isolator Seatbelt Not Worn (if fitted)
Fasten the seatbelt to let the lift run.
7
Seat Not Centred
Turn the seat back to its forward, travelling position.
8
Switch 3 on ECU Not Latched
A switch on the control board isn't set. This usually needs an engineer to check the ECU.
9
Fault Present
Call For an Engineer – A fault has been detected that needs a service visit. Get in touch and we'll come and diagnose it.
F
Software Fault
Replace Main ECU – The main control board (ECU) has a software fault and normally needs replacing. Contact us for a repair.
These codes are a general guide to help you understand what your stairlift is telling you. Some faults can be cleared at home (charging, obstructions, a turned seat), but anything involving the motor, brake, PCB board or safety circuit should be looked at by an engineer. If in doubt, don't force the lift — get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Code you can't clear? We'll get it sorted.
