One model number, several chair arrangements
A 260 Starla and a 260 Siena should not be identified just by the upholstery. Their own manuals are the right place to check the fitted controls and options. The Starla guide, for example, covers an optional hinged rail and automatic swivel configurations.
Include the chair name from the paperwork if it is available. If you are unsure, a photo from a safe position is fine; you do not have to work it out before contacting us.
- Send the model number and chair name together.
- Mention any rail hinge or powered seat feature already fitted.
- Keep the correct user guide and service history with the lift.
Beeping, stopping and remote problems are not one fault
Stannah’s 260 support page treats beeping while parked, repeated stops and remote-control issues separately. When you enquire, describe the symptom and where it was noticed instead of choosing a diagnosis.
For example, say whether the noise was heard while the chair was parked or during a journey, and whether the issue first appeared near a turn. Only report what you already know. Do not reset the lift repeatedly, bypass a switch or travel on it to demonstrate the problem.
- Any message or light visible without opening the lift.
- Where the chair is now and where the issue was first noticed.
- Whether the concern relates to a remote, chair travel or seat movement.
Keep the curved rail in mind when planning changes
Removing a 260, changing a chair or moving the lift to another property are different enquiries. An existing curved rail should not be treated as a ready-made fit for another set of stairs.
Tell us whether you want to retain the lift, remove it or discuss an alternative. We work on many stairlift brands, but will confirm compatibility, parts and the work we can offer for your particular 260 before making a commitment.
A useful starting point
Tell us what you have, and what has changed.
We work on many stairlift brands. The exact model, installation and fault matter, so send a few details to confirm the options and any parts needed.
- The model name and serial number, if you can read the label safely.
- What happens when you try to use the lift, including any displayed code or sound.
- Your county, and whether you need a repair, service, removal or replacement.
If the lift is not working normally, avoid using it until you have advice. Do not bypass a safety device or open the lift to investigate.

Questions about the Stannah 260
Is a Stannah 260 the straight model?
No. Stannah places the 260 manuals under stairlifts for stairs with turns. Its 600 manuals are grouped under straight stairlifts. A chair name such as Siena can appear with either model.
Does every 260 have an automatic swivel seat?
Do not assume that. The official guides cover particular chair versions and options. Tell us which seat and controls are fitted so the enquiry can be checked against the correct installation.
Does beeping mean I should order new lift batteries?
Not on that symptom alone. Send details of when it beeps, any visible indication and the fitted model. The charging arrangement and the cause need assessment before replacement parts are agreed.
