A different rail from the 1000
Handicare’s identification tool describes the 1100 as having a narrow rail with grooved sides. The manufacturer also describes continuous charging along the rail. This differs from the two standard charging park points listed for the 1000.
If you are reporting a charging or travel issue, record where the chair is, any display message and whether the problem follows a particular part of the stairs. Avoid applying advice for another Handicare model without checking the correct manual.
Show any moving or folding track
The 1100 can be fitted with a Slide Track that moves as the lift parks, or an Easy Hinge that folds manually. Handicare also lists a Zero Intrusion arrangement for space at the top of the stairs.
These features are optional. If the problem concerns a track near a doorway, photograph the whole area and explain whether the chair, the track or both have stopped moving. Do not force a rail that will not fold or slide.
Give the fault its own description
Separate a travel fault from a powered seat swivel or folding footrest problem. Tell us whether the lift responds to the chair control and the remotes, when it last worked normally and whether there are new sounds.
For routine servicing or removal, include the installation date if known, any service record and wide photos of both rail ends. We work on many brands; availability of the proposed work needs confirmation for the fitted lift.
A useful starting point
Tell us what you have, and what has changed.
We work on many stairlift brands. The exact model, installation and fault matter, so send a few details to confirm the options and any parts needed.
- The model name and serial number, if you can read the label safely.
- What happens when you try to use the lift, including any displayed code or sound.
- Your county, and whether you need a repair, service, removal or replacement.
If the lift is not working normally, avoid using it until you have advice. Do not bypass a safety device or open the lift to investigate.

Questions about the Handicare 1100
Is the Handicare 1100 a curved stairlift?
No. Handicare lists the 1100 as a straight model. Its name should not be confused with Handicare’s curved 2000, 4000 or Freecurve ranges.
Should I put oil or grease on the 1100 rail?
Handicare describes this rail as grease-free, with no toothed rack. Follow the care instructions for your fitted model and ask for advice about unusual noise or movement instead of applying lubricants as a fault remedy.
