Extra describes an equipment package, not another rail shape
Access BDD lists HomeGlide Extra with powered swivel and powered linked footrest features. The HomeGlide product information also offers an automatic folding hinge rail as an option.
For a repair enquiry, tell us what is fitted and which feature is giving trouble. A footrest that will not fold, a rail hinge concern and a travel fault should not all be described simply as “the lift has stopped”. It is fine if you do not know the technical name.
- Mention Extra if it appears on your paperwork.
- Say whether your rail includes a folding hinge.
- Describe the chair, footrest or travel issue you have already observed.
Give the indoor or outdoor version its correct name
Access BDD lists HomeGlide and HomeGlide Outdoor separately. Do not assume an indoor unit is suitable for outside steps, or that a part advertised for one version fits the other.
When getting in touch from Ireland, include the full model details, the installation setting and your location. If the name is unclear, send the available paperwork and a photo from a safe position rather than opening the lift to look inside.
- The exact HomeGlide wording, not just the manufacturer name.
- An overview showing whether it is inside or outside.
- Any relevant service history or previous repair information.
Repair, removal and replacement are separate choices
If the lift is still needed, describe the fault or the service you want. If it is no longer required, tell us you are asking about removal. You do not need to invent a fault to start that conversation.
We work on many brands, but will confirm the work and parts available for the HomeGlide you have. For a replacement or a used lift going into another property, the new stairs and user requirements need assessment even when both flights are straight.
A useful starting point
Tell us what you have, and what has changed.
We work on many stairlift brands. The exact model, installation and fault matter, so send a few details to confirm the options and any parts needed.
- The model name and serial number, if you can read the label safely.
- What happens when you try to use the lift, including any displayed code or sound.
- Your county, and whether you need a repair, service, removal or replacement.
If the lift is not working normally, avoid using it until you have advice. Do not bypass a safety device or open the lift to investigate.

Questions about the Access BDD HomeGlide
Can HomeGlide follow a bend in the stairs?
Access BDD lists HomeGlide for straight staircases. Its Flow X is a separate product offered for straight and curved stairs. The right layout needs assessment rather than choosing from the chair appearance.
Does every HomeGlide include a powered swivel?
No such assumption should be made. Access BDD lists powered swivel as part of HomeGlide Extra. Tell us what your installation normally does so we can discuss the correct equipment.
Can I enquire about a HomeGlide repair before knowing the failed part?
Yes. Send the model details and explain what you have noticed. The cause, any required parts and the work we can offer need to be confirmed; there is no need to diagnose or dismantle the lift yourself.
