Platinum display codes

Platinum Stairlift Display Codes

Platinum straight stairlift showing a message on its display? Here's what each one means and what to do.

16 codes listed

Platinum straight stairlifts show a written message on the seat display rather than a numeric code, which makes them fairly easy to read. Most messages are just the lift telling you it's charging, moving, or waiting on something simple.

Find your message below. Anything mentioning the brake, relays or an unexplained fault is best left to an engineer — we repair Platinum lifts nationwide.

Platinum straight stairlift display messages

As shown on the seat display

Code What it means & what to do
Platinum
All normal
The lift is on charge and should operate as usual.
No Display
No power
A blank display means the lift has no power. Check the on/off switch and that the charger is on at the wall.
Off Charge
Not charging
The lift has stopped between charge points, or the charger is off at the wall. Drive it fully onto its parking point.
Seat Swivel
Seat swivelled
The seat is in its turned position (power-swivel models). Return it to the travelling position.
On powered-hinge rails, this shows when the lift sits between parking points for over a minute. Drive it to the top charge point.
Hinge
Hinge moving
On powered-hinge rails, this is normal and shows while the powered hinge is in transit.
Critical Battery
Battery critical
The batteries urgently need charging; the lift will only travel downwards. Get it to a charge point.
Switch Lift On
Switched off
The lift is parked on a working charge point but the on/off switch is at '0'. Switch it on.
Moving Left
Moving left
Normal. The lift is travelling to the left.
Moving Right
Moving right
Normal. The lift is travelling to the right.
Final Limit
Final limit
The display cycles between 'Check Key' and 'Check Swivel'. Check the key is on and the seat is in its travelling position.
Edge
Safety edge
A safety sensing edge has stopped the lift. Check for an obstruction on the footrest or carriage.
End Stop
End stop
The lift has reached the end of the rail; the display reads this until the control is released.
Multiple Calls
Multiple calls
More than one control is being pressed at once. Release all but one.
Brake
Brake
The motor brake has activated. If the message stays, it needs an engineer.
Relay Fault
Relay fault
The power relays didn't close. Switch the lift off and on; if it persists, the control board likely needs attention.
These codes are a general guide to help you understand what your stairlift is telling you. Some faults can be cleared at home (charging, obstructions, a turned seat), but anything involving the motor, brake, PCB board or safety circuit should be looked at by an engineer. If in doubt, don't force the lift — get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Code you can't clear? We'll get it sorted.
